Last Wednesday I went along to Dingwalls in Camden to see Yungblud; I was excited, but little did I know what I was about to discover.

I’d been hanging around Camden Market, waiting to be let in. There was a crowd of people casually lingering by the doorway, and then, the minute we saw movement by the door a flood of people rushed forward. We were swamped in a sea of coloured hair and face glitter, but we ended up being able to make our way right to the front of the stage.

We knew there was a warm up act but had no clue who it would be. There was no clue on the tickets, nothing written anywhere, except, a box on stage with the words ‘Hey Charlie’ bold across the front. But still, we didn’t know what to expect.

And then, from the side of my eye, I saw three girls with long blonde hair, adorning 90's grunge girl outfits striding across the stage. G-O-A-L-S, is all I could think in my head. It’s so rare to find an all-girl-rock band, and they certainly did not disappoint.

As soon as they began to play I was brought into this world of powerful female grunge-y rock n roll, in all its glory. They have insane vocal harmonies, rock-y guitar riffs, and fun melodies combined with a driving girl power-esque rock n roll sound that... you know, I just can’t think of how to describe how it makes you feel in the moment. You just wanna dance, flip your hair, bang your head and feel the music, you know?

To top this all off their stage presence is flawless. The amount of energy they had and transferred to the crowd was nothing but magical. You cannot help but be entranced by Hey Charlie. They have the aura of true rock stars, lifting and moving their guitars as if they’re alive with the music, the bassist and guitarist getting down on their knees, feeling the music and just so much more.

Their songs have anthem-like lyrics you just wanna shout, crashing, thrashing drums, guitars you just wanna mosh too, all whilst being topped with these bittersweet syrupy harmonic vocals. And I cannot beg you enough to give their songs a listen. They’re not just bringing rock n roll into 2018, they are striding onto stage with it, making you stand face to face with it, and making you fall in love with it all over again in a new way. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

SONG SUGGESTION: Love Machine – Hey Charlie
